Mother’s Day 2012

There is something special about mother’s day this year for me, and that is that I am able to spend it with my own mother,in Australia, along with my husband and children.

I have lived in Canada for close to 19 years  and have recently returned to Australia to start a new life here with my family. Along with my new life comes with it many new adventures, such as starting my photography business here in Australia, making new friends, connections, discovering new places, re-learning the seasons, learning about the ocean and much, much more.

This is my first mother’s day here, I am excited, but it’s kind of bitter sweet because so many of my special ‘mama’ friends are back in Canada.

However the flip side to that is that I am making some wonderful new friends here .

I thought I would start my first post for 2012 and from Australia with acknowledging my gratitude for the wonderful people in my life, in particular the women, mamas, grandmas ,aunts, sisters, cousins, best friends,the ones I have known, the knew friends I am making and the more to come.

Some of the lovely new friends I am making are running their own businesses and gearing up for a busy weekend, please take a look at:

For those of you reading this from Canada ( in Particular BC) then here are a couple of businesses that would be sure to help you out for Mother’s Day treats:

Xcocolatyl in Squamish

Wind Flower Designs Squamish

Billy’s Flower House Squamish

Wow the lists could go on, and one thing I would love to note is that all of these businesses are owned and operated by women!!!

Let the ‘mother’ in all of us be happy!

Have a wonderful day

Such a CUTE couple….{Sea to Sky LIfestyle Photographer}

It seems that each year I manage to come across a wonderful couple that ask me to take their wedding photos, and this year was no different and once again (as in the past when I have said “yes” to a wedding request) they were so sweet I had to say “yes, I’ll be there” .

How delightful they were to work with.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity that I had to share this special day with them and want to send this couple a heartfelt thanks for trusting me to do this work for them…..

Here are a few sneak peeks for you Jess and Tyson!

Enjoy….

The Blueberry Picking Day…..{Sea to Sky Family Lifestyle Photographer}

It isn’t often these days that I post about myself or my family, but it’s time to share…. one of the reasons I want to share these images is because of my upcoming workshop that I am planning.

I am gearing up to spending the day on October 23rd teaching those interested in improving their own personal photography skills.

These photos I took of my children (well mostly of my daughter as my son lost interest in picking berries!).

We had spent the weekend in Pemberton, I had a family photo session on the Sunday morning at the gorgeous North Arm Farm,and couldn’t help noticing all the ripe berries being picked while I clicked away.

The following day, I brought my own children back there and busily picked in the mid day sun….all the time thinking I want to get some shots of the kids picking blueberries….I kept looking up at the sky thinking”agh bad light, middle of the day, no shade yadayadayada” ….finally I stopped thinking , pulled out my camera gear and just clicked…who cares? I thought, these are my children, we are here right now, this is a fleeting moment.

These images wouldn’t win technical awards, but they are mine to tell me a story of that day…..come join me on October 23rd and meet other like minded souls who want to get some better photos of their children, pets, parents, grandparents and more……

Workshop Investment is as follows:

$30 for morning session (10 – 12 noon): getting to know your equipment, understanding some basics, feeling comfortable, what to do with all these photos etc

The morning class is designed for those of you who feel lost and not really sure how to use your equipment, or need a refresher on how to get up and running taking satisfying photos.

$75 for the afternoon class( 1pm – 4pm): This is where we delve more into composition,understanding light and capturing that moment…..in particular how to have the camera as a natural part of your day….and get results you want to share!

Attending the whole day will be $95: this will be a great opportunity for those who are at a level with their own gear to help others in the morning class by having lively discussions and demonstrations about gear and sharing experiences.

All rates have tax added to them:(

Refreshments provided:)

I Remember This Age…sigh…{Squamish Children’s Photographer}

It seems only yesterday that my own little girl was happily wearing tutus on a family walk, or picking daisies with innocent delight…which is why I love to capture this age….sigh…

This sweet little girl brought back those memories to me and reminded me how blessed I am to have experienced that time myself.

Thanks Juliet for your sweetness and charm!

Thanks for stopping by….
