It has been a very long time since I sat down to write a blog post, I have had so much to say and share but for some reason only now have the words started to make it out of my head and onto this page. The truth is I took a huge step away from sharing my work as I have been trying to determine exactly what  direction it is all taking.

Giving  myself the time and space to think about where I was going with photography and videography I noticed  that the same answers kept coming up when asked what work I like to do:

I really love to create photos and videos to help people promote the work they are passionate about in life, career, hobby etc. It is a huge honour to be given this task and so much fun to work together to come up with a unique vision. This may sound like a broad spectrum of work possibilities, and yes I have most definitely found myself in vastly different work environments over the last few years ranging from Hot Air Balloons with Make A Wish Australia, to  Factory workers for an Engineering Company, to Custom Jewellery Making to a musician in the Snow! However the essence of the work is the same in all of these scenarios;  connecting with the person and their environment in the photo or the video and helping their light to shine through….

That is what I truly love and will continue to do!

Currently I am rebuilding my website to give a fresh look at what I do, in the meantime, though, I have decided to re-start my blog posts to both share with and inspire anyone who cares to take a peak!

This week I would like to share with you some photos I took of a long time client (who feels more like family than client) that I connected with on my trip back to Canada in December last year! Her name is Jocelyn Pettit and she is an incredibly hard working, passionate and talented musician from Canada. She is such a joy to work with and it is easy to see in the photos how much she loves what she does. We also always have fun working together.

You can take a look at her website here and find out more about her music…in the meantime enjoy the photos!

social_media_01aFor  a while now I have been working on a new direction in my work, something that I feel quite passionate about …

After many years of working in the photography industry, with many different people from all walks of life, the thing that brings me the most joy is being able to work together with my clients to bring them the imagery that best represents who they are.

With the world we live in being such a visual, fast paced world, it is often very difficult for businesses to keep up with the demands of providing regular, quality photographic and video content, which is why I have now developed the Social Media package.

This a new service that can be custom designed for each business depending on the needs.

The Social Media package can provide some or all of the following:

  • Photography (Branding business portraits/staff shots, imagery of the details and story of your business, sized and prepared for social media applications as well as print, and more)
  • Videography (Branding Video story of your business, from concept to completion)
  • Brand and Social media strategy development and marketing
  • Ongoing, monthly services

If this sounds like something your business could benefit from, we would love to hear from you and will share more details!

Have a great weekend,

Sue and team!

A little while ago I was fortunate to be hired by a lovely local family that were getting together on a winter’s afternoon in Inverloch. At first, it was mentioned that it was a gift for mum for her birthday, then as the shoot unfolded it turned out that this busy, globe trotting family had a number of reasons to come together and celebrate, such as retirement, birthday, new job in Melbourne for a young university graduate, new job for another heading off to Africa and an overarching appreciation for getting together as a family!

I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know this family…here are some favourites coming from that shoot:

It certainly has felt like a long winter here in Victoria, however it is hard to complain about the rain and cold when there are still so many areas of Australia dealing with drought. Here in the South Gippsland we are blessed with a bounty of rolling hills, seascapes and patches of sunshine amongst the stormy, rainy days….

If, however, the weather and short daylight hours have been making you feel a little bit blah….

I would like to share a link to a blog post that made me smile and gave me some ideas on how to brighten up my day!

Have a read here: 9 Very lovely things to do this week

After reading this I was inspired to make a list of my own!

Here are a few ideas that I came up with:

1) Buy a bunch of flowers for the table…brightens up the room

2) Bake cookies…makes the house smell great and hopefully they taste good too

3) Go for a walk….helps get your blood circulating and oxygenated…getting fresh air into your lungs and awakening your mind

4) Eat some of your favourite chocolate

5) Go on…jump on the trampoline while the kids are at school…it’s fun!

6) Wear a bright colour and see how it changes your mood!

7) Let someone go ahead of you in line at the check out, even if you are in a hurry…it helps to slow you down and take a breath

8) Compliment a friend or even a complete stranger…

9) Play one of your favourite songs at top volume and sing along with it…

I hope you try at least one of these ideas 🙂

Recently I had the great pleasure of being asked to create a motion clip to showcase the work of an amazing Hair Stylist; Emma Kyle of Emma Jean Hair.

Based in both Melbourne and South Gippsland, Emma travels far and wide to work with brides for their special day.

It was wonderful watching her work, chatting with the bride and her family and creating an individual style that complimented each woman.

Emma wanted me to be able to  capture her at work and show her unique business of Bridal Hair Styling where she comes to the bride’s location and in a relaxed and fun manner, weaves her magic to produce a smiling bride with gorgeously styled hair, ready to go to her wedding.

Let the clip tell her story….and if you or someone you know requires the services of this talented lady make sure to stop by her website here: Emma Jean Hair
